Friends, if you've followed our 10-year journey from scrappy, born-in-a-barn startup, you'll know we've faced obstacles from the dreadful wind & rain variety (ice storms) to neighbors dragging us into court and perhaps worst of all, the beloved brewhouse that gave up the ghost in 2024, causing an 8-month production shutdown.

The recent closure of Benjamin Rd. has been one of the hardest. Traffic to the brewery has dropped off. Benjamin is closed forever. The alternate route will wind through condos at Crestview. Or, the 3 mile detour we are all using now.

So many good breweries are closing, but we do not intend to go down the same path.

We launched this brewery 10 years ago with heart pounding support from friends, family, and passionate beer fans before we even really started construction, and it's time for us to do it again.

IN OUR NEW DOWNTOWN NEWBERG LOCATION. Yep. A 2nd spot!

THE PLANS

It's go time. This fall we plan to open a 2nd location in downtown Newberg where we can present not only our award-winning beers but also delicious food, cocktails (eventually), wines, ciders, NA, plus (drumroll, please), really good, amplified LIVE MUSIC.

None of those things beyond beer tasting are currently allowed at the farm on a regular basis. But with the continued success of Thursday bluegrass nights and the Newgrass Festival, which is scheduled to return in mid-March 2026, the timing feels right.

It is one of the very coolest, and as-yet-unknown spaces in town, a refurbished 1940s auto shop on Meridian, just around the corner from Rosmarino, the food card pod, and other East end favorites. It's also owned by the good folks behind The 1888, vintage apartments in Newberg's oldest building (which is attached to the one I'm describing), home of the Newberg Graphic and the first bank in town (and future home of an area chef's fine dining establishment - details when can share!). As history buffs, we practically fell in love before we even saw the place. Then we walked in.... and WOW. Think weathered wood rafters, faded paint, glinting sunlight, antique green lamp shades like we have already. It's a natural extension of what we love about the barn where all this started a decade and 300+ recipes ago.

If things continue on track, we will be grand-opening this addition to Newberg this November. At that point, the farm's tasting area will be buttoned up this and every winter (at least until Spring when Newgrass season rolls back around), available for private rentals and occasional one-offs.

WE CAN'T WAIT! With our relationships in the music industry (including the curators of Pickathon), we can bring Newberg and the valley a venue that will reverberate with great music all year round. And yes, we'll have the full gamut of W&P beers, plus guest beers, cans, bottles, and merch to go.

THE COST & HOW THE MONEY WILL BE SPENT

It's substantial, and coming off the last two years we've faced, no small task. We have some funding but need more. Donations go directly to me on behalf of the brewery.

In addition to permitting and moving costs for a ton of gear, we'll install custom cold storage, optimal draft equipment, bar amenities, stage/sound/lighting gear, paint, artworks, furniture, myriad functional items for the spot itself, making it feel like a true extension of W&P from day one. (All beermaking stays on the farm by the way).

The initial goal is $16,000, which could help the walk in part especially, but we will need to go well beyond that investment wise to make it all work the way it should.

STRETCH GOAL

Because the Benjamin road closure is never going away, we also do need to fix that ASAP for the sake of the business now and in the future. It does not seem the city, county, or developers responsible for the closure feel like pitching in. But with your help, we can plan to work with local excavators to build 550' of gravel road from 99W to the barn on the Eastern perimeter of the property, which is fairly difficult-to-farm, sloped orchard that would better serve as a driveway. (While the city/county will open a paved route through the new "Crestview Crossing" neighborhood that comes closer, it's a bit convoluted.) Estimated costs are coming together, but it won't be a cent under $25K, maybe double that. This is heavy excavation work. But we know how to get it done. This is secondary to getting the new location going.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING: If we make our goals, we'll be offering thank-yous and more.

$5 Porch Picker: high fives, hugs, and a sticker!

$50 Jam Collective: a tee, trucker hat, or patch commemorating the build out, access to a venue-specific mix tape, plus early access to tix in month one
